Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart visits Homestead Job Corps Center, a federally funded training and education program for young adults

After serving 14 effective years in the Florida State Legislature, Mario Diaz-Balart was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002 to represent Florida’s 25th Congressional District, which includes part of Miami-Dade, Collier and Monroe Counties, and is currently serving his fourth term.

Youth education is a priority for Diaz-Balart.  Diaz-Balart is a strong proponent of Job Corps, a U.S. Department of Labor federally funded training and education program for youth ages 16-24.  There are over 123 Job Corps Centers in the nation.  Homestead Job Corps Center, one of the 123 Centers, was delighted to host Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart as he visited the Center and spoke with both students and staff on Friday, May 14, 2010.

In Washington, D.C., Diaz-Balart is always gracious by taking the time to speak to Job Corps students who are visiting.  Now, Homestead Job Corps Center is pleased to have had the opportunity to welcome the Congressman to their Center.

Diaz-Balart was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on September 25, 1961. He attended the University of South Florida in Tampa where he studied Political Science before beginning his public service career as an aide to then City of Miami Mayor in 1985. The Congressman lives in Miami, FL with his wife and son.  For more information about Homestead Job Corps Center, Diaz.Lesly@jobcorps.org
