Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center Student Success Story!

Rayeisha McClendon, age 21 from Chicago, Illinois grew tired of doing the wrong things, such as partying and setting bad examples for her younger siblings, which she knew looked up to her. Rayeisha knew that she had to do something to get herself on a path to success.

Rayeisha entered the Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center on July 24th 2012. She said that it was one of the best decisions that she has ever made. Rayeisha is part of the Facility Maintenance trade and plans on completing the program in the spring.

Rayeisha has achieved many things to be proud of while here at the Gerald R. Ford Job Corps Center. She stated that her attitude has changed for the better and that she has a new outlook on life. Rayeisha has earned her high school diploma, as well as OSHA Certification and even went beyond her trade requirements and became certified in Microsoft Office.

After completing her trade, Rayeisha plans on moving back home to Chicago to help care for her brothers and sisters. Rayeisha plans on enrolling in college, but has not decided what she wants to study. The one piece of advice that Rayeisha would give to future and fellow Job Corps students is to “expect problems and road blocks, but know that there is always a way to overcome them.”
