Charleston Job Corps Center’s Spring Prom 2014-Spring In Paris, March 21, 2014

The Charleston Job Corps Center operated by Horizons Youth Services (HYS) for the U.S. Dept. of Labor sponsored the annual prom. The theme was “Spring in Paris” Friday, March 21, 2014 from 7:30-11:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, Kanawha Blvd., Charleston WV. Students and staff enjoyed the music by DJ Preston Hall, delicious food, and cupcakes catered by Tim McDuffy. Ms. Rosalyn Cary, Leadership Coordinator at Charleston Job Corps Center stated, “This time was very exciting. We had great participation, the students were grateful, and took pride in the event.”

The center extends a sincere thank-you to Ms. Julia Black, founder of Ronda’s Closet at Aldersgate Methodist Church, Sissonville WV for donating 40 dresses this year. Ms. Black stated, “This has been our most successful year so far. We have dressed 110 girls. I really enjoy helping the Job Corps girls and program, and hope to continue to do so.” Ms. Black credits the Gardner’s Cleaners-Rick and Kathy for the outstanding job on cleaning and storing the dresses, Aldersgate Methodist Church, Nandele’s Bridal, Prom, & Formal Wear, Eleanor WV, Ritzy Rags, Man WV and individual donations. Ronda’s Closet opened during the prom season of 2006 in memory of Ronda Jones Howard of Charleston, the sister of Ms. Tena Jones, Executive Secretary at the Charleston Job Corps Center. Ms. Howard succumbed to breast cancer in 2004 at the age of 44. If you would like to make a donation to Ronda’s Closet, please contact Julia Black at (304) 389-4604.
