High School Students train at Muhlenberg Job Corps

The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center has a co-enrollment program with the local high school which enables students to come to the Job Corps campus during their Senior year in high school for career technical training.  Harley Clack, Mason Weaver, and Brian Shepherd are seniors of the Muhlenberg County High School are taking full advantage of the co-enrollment offerings of the Muhlenberg Job Corps.   Students are able to come to the campus for a half day of training in Health Careers of Heavy Equipment Industry fields.   Harley is enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program, Mason and Brian are receiving training and certifications in the Heavy Equipment Operators course.   All three individuals were very skeptical about attending Job Corps but are now so thankful for the opportunity.

The training the student receives is free if they meet the income guidelines set up by the National Office of Job Corps.   The co-enrollment program is a wonderful option for those who may not be able to afford to enter college or obtain training elsewhere.  Students can also choose to continue their training at Job Corps after graduation if they wish.

If you are a current high school student and would like more information about the co-enrollment program contact your high school counselor.  Job Corps is the largest residential job training program in the United States. The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center is operated by Horizons Youth Services in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor.
