Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center helps send At-Risk youth to Trooper Island Summer Camp!

Friday July 18th , 2014 Staff and students from the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center with the help of Horizons Youth Services co-sponsored the annual “KY State Police Trooper Island Golf Tournament”. Horizons Youth Services sponsored the lunch for the golfers, and Perkins Culinary class prepared it in 5 star fashion as usual.

This makes the 12th year that Perkins has helped the KY State Police for this worthy cause. Trooper Island is a Non-Profit Established in 1965 at the Dale Hollow Lake disadvantaged & at-risk youth,boys & girls ages 10-12, have a opportunity to attend the camp each summer. The camp is operated by Sate Police troopers and many other volunteers. The campers get to enjoy  nature, crafts, boating, fishing, safety, citizenship, hygiene, first aid and many more activities.

All the monies made during the tournament go to the camp. This years totals were over $10,000.
