Charleston Job Corps Center hosts Job Fair-Sept. 17, 2014

The purpose of the Job Fair was to allow organizations and companies to meet Charleston Job Corps Students in an informal setting. The Job Fair also gave Charleston Job Corps Students the chance to learn more about potential employers and the opportunities available. The focus was to share information between organizations, companies and students. In addition, networking with organizations and companies to develop a connection for Work Based Learning.

There were a total of nine employer participants: WV Division of Personnel, Mardi Gras Casino, WV State University, Kanawha Valley Senior Services, Eastbrook, Embassy Suites, WV CTS, and Manpower. A total of 90 students attended the Job Fair along with WV Career Transition Services.

The employers at the Job Fair described students as “polite”, “professional”, “motivated”, “engaged”, “prepared”, and qualified”. Sherri Jackson, Kanawha Valley Senior Services said, “Whoever is training and preparing these students is doing a great job and should be proud of these students”. There were several applications filled out and organizations/employers were excited about the turn out. The job fair was hosted by the Counseling Dept. and special thanks to Dawnetta Courts, Counselor.
