The Charleston Job Corps Center operating under Horizons Youth Services held its first quarterly OA/CTR/CTS meeting sponsored by the Career Services Department (CSD) under the direction of Garr McCrimmon, CSD Director. Mr. McCrimmon welcomed attendees to the first meeting of 2015 and introduced Tia Welch, Business Community Liaison who made opening remarks thanking the Outreach & Admission and WV CTS staff for their work and dedication. Welch stated, “We still have work to do to ensure more WV youth are taking advantage of the program.” Brief presentations were made by center staff regarding peer counseling, job fair, direct placements, contact with students, advanced training, and career technical training updates.

Andrew Walters, Counseling Supervisor encouraged support and stated his department is working to overcome employability barriers. Rosalyn Car, CTR Specialist informed attendees of the recent church donation to the center’s Clothing Closet. The Clothes Closet provides suits, ties, and professional attire to students in need of interview clothes. Visiting Outreach and Admissions and Career Transition Readiness staff provided viewpoints during the meeting.
