Charleston Job Corps Center observes National Military Appreciation Month-May 20, 2015

The Charleston Job Corps Center (CJCC) operating under Horizons Youth Services (HYS) observed National Military Appreciation Month with a breakfast on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. in the Center Director’s Conference Room. Tia Welch, Business Community Liaison hosted the event for students, staff and guest military that support the center.

“We want to recognize you and thank you for your service” said Welch. Tiara Mosley, Student Government Association secretary welcomed attendees on behalf of the students at Charleston. Willie Brown, Center Director spoke about being a military child and thanked participants for their service.

Military enlistment is a high priority for Job Corps centers and represents a positive placement. “Job Corps’ ties with the military go back to its inception. We are proud to have recruiters regularly visit center to prepare students who are interested in the military” said Brown.

Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publically demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members – past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country (Source: www.military.com).
