Carl D. Perkins students ensure safety for Early Childhood event.

Saturday May 16th, Security & Protective services students from Ms. Beverly Compton’s Security class worked the Floyd County Early Childhood event at the Big Sandy Community & Technical College. the Early Childhood event gives children ages birth to 5 to have free developmental, hearing, and speech screenings  during the event. Train Rides, Fire Trucks, Police and EMS vehicles where on hand for youngsters to see. Re-Mix out of Lexington ,KY was on hand playing the latest tunes, for all to dance with Jiggy and roll around the grass in giant size plastic balls. The Perkins students have been apart of this event for three years, assisting with event security, parking and any other detail that the event may need help with.

Perkins students complete over 1,000 hours of community service each year. Practicing those critical on the job training skills while also giving back to their community.
