Charleston Job Corps Center Celebrates 50 years of training youth-June 17, 2015

Charleston Job Corps Center (CJCC) opened in June 1965 as an all-female center at the old Kanawha Hotel on Summers Street in Charleston, West Virginia. In 1976, our center became a coeducational facility. In 1997, our center moved to a mountaintop campus overlooking the city of Charleston.

Since April 2011, CJCC has operated under Horizons Youth Services for the U.S. Department of Labor. The center will host a center-wide celebration for its 50th Birthday on June 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Our center director, Willie Brown will make remarks prior to a red, white, and blue balloon release and refreshments for students, alumni, staff and community partners will be served afterwards.

“Fifty-years later, the Charleston Job Corps Center continues to provide excellent academic and career technical training for youth 16-24. We encourage committed WV youth to take advantage of the opportunities in this program has to offer” said Willie Brown.

Currently, the center offers career technical training in Painting, Facilities Maintenance, Carpentry, Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC), Office Administration, Network Cabling, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Office Support, Dental Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistance (C.N.A).
