Muhlenberg Job Corps Center walks for a Cure!

On Friday, June 26, 2015, staff and students of the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center were proud to participate in the Muhlenberg County Relay for Life event to benefit cancer research. The Bulldog Angels fundraising club sponsored Friday Jean Days for monetary donations and the Center was also able to add in a corporate match donation.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life event is a life-changing experience that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remembered loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.

From 6pm until midnight the teams recognized survivors, watched hair donor shave her head for “Bald for Becca” and participated in the Mr. Relay Pageant. Student, Matthew Rutherford, took one for the team in honor of his friend Dustin who passed away from Cancer. He was a participant in the Mr. Relay pageant and walked away with winning prettiest smile, softest hands, and prettiest feet! Matthew is a Certified Nursing Assistant trade completer and is currently enrolled at the Madisonville Community College.
