Charleston Job Corps Center lending a helping hand-June 30, 2015

The Charleston Job Corps Center students are rolling up their sleeves to provide community service during the summer break. Several students are lending a hand at the Roark Sullivan Lifeway Center (RSLC) in the Veteran’s building to provide summer clean-up for forthcoming renovations. Students are organizing the food pantry, sorting clothing donations, deep cleaning, vacuuming, and painting. The service period will be Tuesday, June 30-Wednesday, July 2, 2015 from 10:00-2:00 p.m.

According to the website www.rslwc.org the Veteran’s Program provides the following services:

“Many individuals that are served by RSLC are Veterans that are experiencing homelessness. The RSLC Veterans Program provides a Service Center component that focuses on Veteran specific issues. The Veterans Administration is on-site providing benefit assistance, eligibility, etc. to any Veteran in the community in need of services. Many other services are available to Veterans such as: individual and group sessions, case management, transportation, mental health and substance abuse support services and on-site therapy provided by a Clinical Therapist, as well as, a variety of community organizations that provide additional on-site services to our Veterans.”

A special thanks to Troy Vick, Sheila Campbell, Lonnie Dixon, Jackeline Albelo, Justin Davis, Kenneth Phillips, Victoria Young, Russell Solt for their participation and Amanda Harrison Vice President, Roark Sullivan Lifeway Center for the opportunity to serve.
