Carl D. Perkins Job Corps works with Ky State Police for annual Golf Tournament

On Friday July 17, the Carl D. Perkins students and staff assist with the KY State Police annual golf tournament. This is the 12th year that Perkins has helped  with the tournament. Culinary students prepare lunch for the golfers with food provided by Horizons Youth Services. Perkins Executive assistant Ms. Marsha Hackworth also provides group pictures for each team during the tournament.

Trooper Island Camp was developed by the Kentucky State Police as part of a long range program of public service to the youth of Kentucky: a place where the tensions and turmoil of our everyday lives can be forgotten; and for one week young people can be given a touch of hope and desire of a better tomorrow.

Spearheaded by former State Police Director, Colonel James E. Bassett, the idea was to establish a permanent recreational site where trooper and child could share a week long experience.

Perkins is glad to be a part of such a great event for a great cause.
