On July 30, 2015, the students from the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center headed to the American National University (ANU) in Pikeville, Kentucky to do what they thought was working an event. However, the students got to learn some important health facts, see some lifesaving demonstrations and have fun all while working. The Healthy Fun Fair is an event presented by the American National University, (ANU), each year for the community. The event offers free physicals for children, free health screening for adults and children, senior workshops, and other educational seminars for all to enjoy. While outside of the event, scores of local children enjoyed a inflatable water slide, the Kentucky Transportation Departments seatbelt demonstration with their car simulator and the highlight was the landing of two Med-Vac helicopters doing rescue demonstrations after a mock school bus accident.

Perkins culinary students grilled hot dogs and served drinks to all of the participants, while the security students directed the over five-hundred visitors to their parking locations, they also assisted with safety checks throughout the venue. The office administration also took park in registering guests, taking pictures and copying informational sheets for the vendors.

What a great asset to the community and the Perkins Job Corps Center is always happy to assist and give back.
