New Orleans Job Corps Feeds the Homeless

It wasn’t the first time New Orleans Job Corps students JarDan Williams and Theresa Randle fed the poor and homeless at St. Jude Community Center on the edge of the city’s French Quarter but they never tire of the experience.

“The first time I did it I was worried about how we would feed everybody,” said JarDan. “It just takes a little tender loving care and pride in what you do to create a great meal for them.”

JarDan and Theresa along with their classmates served up baked chicken, baked macaroni, green beans and rolls prepared with that special New Orleans culinary spice to 125 poor and homeless at the community center.

“I’ve volunteered in the past at St. Jude Community Center with my sister,” said Theresa. “It’s special to have the opportunity to volunteer again with my Culinary classmates and see some of the same people. I tell them ‘I hope you enjoy the meal and keep coming back because we enjoy helping you guys out.”

Says JarDan: “If they know New Orleans Job Corps Culinary class is cooking that day, they make a special effort to come and eat what we prepare because what we do- we do with TLC. We take pride in what we do.”
