The Bamberg Job Corps Center had a Male and Female Retreat on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.  The retreat started about 9:30 a.m. and ended around 2:30 p.m. All males, staff and students walked to the Bamberg Ness Sports Complex where they enjoyed grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.  They played basketball and softball. The males also had a speaker, Mr. Johnny Rouse, Alcohol Drug Enforcement Coordinator for Allendale, Barnwell, Bamberg and Aiken counties.  Roosevelt Fisher, CSIO Manger at job corps, spoke on responsibility.  Angus Kirkland, TEAP Specialist spoke on how to be drug free and the Center Director, Eric Jones spoke on being alcohol free.  The purpose of the retreat was to further encourage the males as well as the females students that staff are here for them, to encourage them to do their very best while they here at job corps and to think before they act.
The female students and staff were transported on two buses and three vans to Colleton State Park in Colleton County.  They enjoyed potato salad and fried chicken, homemade cookies, chips and cold drinks.  Many job corps staff spoke on various topics.  Teresa Aiken, Student Support Manger spoke on Interpersonal skills.  Johnell Gaines, CPP/HS Diploma Program Coordinator spoke on dorm life.  Evelyn Stanley, Business Community Liaison o spoke on self-confidence.
