National School Counselor Appreciation Week

At the Joliet Job Corps Center, the Counselors are like super heroes.

Although they don’t leap tall buildings in a single bound, they are first-rate problem solvers who always are ready to lend a hand or a friendly ear to students.

This year, Feb. 1 marked the beginning of National School Counselor Appreciation Week. And while the Joliet Job Corps Center is not a traditional school, the program’s Counselors work very hard at a myriad of tasks to help students become as successful as possible.

From their first day to their last, students rely on their counselors at the Center. Due to the nature of their jobs, the counselors often are required to adjust their entire day at the drop of a hat. It is often assumed that counselors will take care of whatever needs to be done, and they often do that.

Josh Collier is the Career Development Manager who supervises the counseling staff. Mr. Collier wanted to recognize the group’s dedication, teamwork, flexibility and passion during National School Counselor Appreciation Week. And he wanted staff and students to recognize the super heroes that walk among them every day.
