Little Rock’s Groundhog Job Shadow Day

Ground Hog Shadow Day was a huge success for the Little Rock Center on Feb. 2.
Community partners Arkansas State Independent Living Council, State Representative Fredrick Love, Pulaski County Community Services, Shorter College, and Client First Staff Solutions did a great job hosting and mentoring students.
The students on center got the opportunity to pair up with our Directors and Managers for the day. The students and staff did an excellent job of not only taking the experience seriously but also fully engaging in the experience. The students attended staff meetings and were involved in all of the day-to-day duties. This left them with a new perspective, and appreciation for what it entails to operate the Center and provide them with optimal student services.
Isaiah Jacobs did an excellent job as Center Director, as did all the other students in their roles. Throughout the day, staff ate lunch with students to further engage them and speak about networking and building important relationships with colleges and coworkers.
The day ended with a small award ceremony and a brief-out from the experiences. Both staff and students reported that it was “amazing” and asked if the Center could incorporate it at least quarterly into its schedules.
