Carl D. Perkins Job Corps WBL student receives appreciation award

Carl D. Perkins student Brandi Fox, her work ethic and her skill in carpentry attracted the attention of the director of the Floyd County Conservation Center in Prestonsburg, KY. Floyd County Conservation Center Director Tony Grubb recently presented Fox with an appreciation award recognizing the work she did for the center during a six-week work based learning internship. Fox assisted with some repair work at the center, budgeting, floor plans and shopping for a floor project at the center. In Presenting the award, Grubb said he was “totally impressed with Brandi’s work ethic, knowledge and skill in carpentry.”
The Work-Based Learning program gives students on-the-job training in their specific skill with local business and schools. Perkins has partnered the the Conservation Center for the last six years on several projects and internships.
