Pre 90 Students Visit the Museum

The Joliet Area Historical Museum celebrates the history of Joliet and the surrounding Will County, promoting awareness, understanding and preservation of the community’s diverse history.

On April 20, Career Preparation Period Advisor April Norman and 13 students saw it’s many awesome features, including the state-of-the-art Apollo/Houbolt Exhibit that’s devoted to the historic 1969 moon landing. It honors former Joliet resident and key proponent of the lunar orbit rendezvous concept, Dr. John C. Houbolt. The huge, two-story exhibit features interactive panels, diagrams and maps, audio-visuals, flat-screen narratives and period dioramas, and it tells the exciting story of the race to the moon and Dr. Houbolt’s vision.

The students enjoyed taking pictures with the statutes of the Blues Brothers, the life-size trolley and the convertible traveling

through historic Route 66. They sat in car couches and viewed short broadcasts and heard music from the years that made Route 66 famous.
