Treasure Island Job Corps Bi-Annual Active Shooter Drill

The Treasure Island Job Corps Bi-Annual Active Shooter Drill commenced on May 17th 2016 at 10:00 am. TIJCC staff sent out a “Code Red Alert” via InformaCast. A “Code Red Alert” was also sent out to Security and Maintenance staff via our two-way radio system. Students and staff then switched off their lights, phones, and radios while taking cover and locking doors.

Drill facilitators, the SFPD, tactically trained firemen (including Mr. Cooper), and Mr. Meehan from Homeland Security methodically walked hallways, checking doors to see if they were securely locked. They peered into classrooms to see if they could spot any potential victims who were not well hidden. The halls were so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Mock victims were extracted and triaged.
At the conclusion of the drill, the all clear signal was given over office phones and radios. Students and staff returned to their normal daily activities.
