Student Government Association Inaugeration

The Joliet Job Corps Center’s Student Government Association held an inauguration ceremony on May 18.

To celebrate the occasion, the Center’s staff sponsored an inauguration dinner for the new SGA officers. The event began with the posting of the colors. Then Security Instructor Charles Betts led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Social Development Director Alicia Grangent expressed her appreciation for the former office holders and congratulated the new leaders: President Steve Brown, Vice President Shaniesha Phelps, Secretary Veronica Pugh, Treasurer Cashay Harris, Chief Justice Chante Johnson and Sergeant-At-Arms Derrick Jennings. The new SGA officers will serve from March to September, a six-month term.

The young men and women who are serving in the Leadership program have the courage to face the challenges, overcome the obstacles and take the initiative while serving their peers at the Center.

Peer Leadership Coordinator Thanesha Sorrells swears in Derrick Jennings, the SGA's new sergeant-at-arms.

Everyone is looking forward to seeing the gifts and talents this cabinet will bring to the Center.
