Carl D. Perkins Students have busy weekend

Carl D. Perkins Students work a variety weekend events that involved Zombies, Science Activities and Sesame Street. Carl D. Perkins is quick to respond when there is a need for their help. Over the weekend of October14-15, students worked an array of community events, that enables them to practice what they have learned in the classroom. Perkins Office admin and Y2Y student ambassadors assisted with the Floyd County Early Childhood Science event held at the East KY Science Center in Prestonsburg, KY. Students signed in guest, helped run the learning centers, and also had the opportunity to talk with community members about the Youth2Youth “Y2Y” program. Student stated they enjoyed working the event, that helping others for a great cause, made them feel good.

In the next town, Security & Protective Services students along with their Instructor Mr. Adam Osborne assisted 5k runners in Martin, KY stay safe from the Zombies that were chasing them for a good cause, Relay for life event sponsored by St. Joseph’s Hospital in Martin.. Perkins is always happy to be involved in these events.

In Pikeville, KY the Advanced security & Protective Services class worked the sesame Street Live Event at the East KY EXPO center. Students manned the door ensuring no unauthorized items got into the arena, making a safe event for all to enjoy.

Carl D. Perkins student gain invaluable job experience with working these events that prepares them for the world of work when they complete the Job Corps Program.
