CLEVELAND JOB CORPS MOM’S FIRST PROJECT

On Friday, November 21, 2016, Cleveland Job Corps Cen-ter Medical Secretary, Rolanda Wilson hosted a community support event with MOM’S First Project for the Cen-ter’s prenatal students. Bridjetta Levison, MOM’s First Project Case Manager offered the prenatal students information about prenatal health care for their unborn child, parenting classes, Fatherhood Initiative support services and Peer Advisory services. Additionally, Ms. Levison gave every student a program binder with a host of information and set students up for parenting classes.
The goal of the MOM’s First Project is to reduce the number of babies that pass away before they are one year of age. MOM’s First Project provides home, school, community visits, and supportive services. Furthermore, this program provides services to our high-risk prenatal students to help prevent premature birth.
During the presentation, it was discovered that one of the Center’s prenatal student has been missing classes, due to attending MOM’s First Project prenatal and parenting classes off-center. MOM’s First Project has agreed to a partnership with CJCC’s Well-ness Department twice a month, so that our students do not miss class and can contin-ue to benefit from the services offered. “I am excited and honored to partner with CJCC Wellness Department on ensuring students have a safe delivery and healthy children,” stated Ms. Levision.
