Highlighting Student Success at Potomac JCC

Ever Lendos is a graduate of the Automotive Technician trade at Red Rock Job Corps center. Ever transferred to the Transportation Communication Union/International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (TCU/IAM) Advanced Training program in Washington, D.C. at the Potomac Job Corps Center to pursue a career with Amtrak in the mechanical field. Ever completed the program at Potomac in February of this year.  Ever was an outstanding student during his tenure at TCU/IAM Potomac and during that time he was willing to step out of his comfort zone by participating in speeches in front of the class and willingly accepting the position of TCU/IAM Student receptionist answering phones, greeting guests, and giving tours to new students. Ever said that, “TCU helped me because it forced me to do presentations and speeches, which was a big deal to me because communication is not my strong suite.” Ever was recommended to the Amtrak Human Resource office as the receptionist where he did an outstanding job and was given the opportunity to test and interview for Assistant Conductor, where he was hired making $22/hr. “I never thought I would be in a job where I have to talk to people so much. I am developing my communication skills by facing the public speaking fears I used to have.”
