Charleston Job Corps Center’s Y2Y meets with Charleston City Council-Sept. 18, 2017

The Charleston Job Corps Center’s Y2Y Ambassadors and BCL attended the Charleston City Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 17, 2017. Job Corps Centers across the country are observing Youth-2-Youth (Y2Y) Campaign against Violence Week September 17-22, 2017.

A presentation was made to the city council regarding the purpose of Y2Y. A Y2Y Flyer of events, pledge cards and bracelets were distributed to city council and Mayor Danny Jones. An invitation to attend the center’s Peace March in honor of International Peace Day on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 was encouraged. Y2Y Partners 4 Peace is a violence-prevention initiative created and led by Job Corps students nationwide. Job Corps is committed to being a safe and secure environment for young people to receive education and hands-on career training. We are proud to support the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention and My Brother’s Keeper.

Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16-24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.
