Clevelan Job Corps Annual Safety Fair

Over 193 Cleveland Job Corps students and staff participated in the Cleveland Job Corps Annual Safety Fair on June 27, 2019. Students and staff learned about various careers in the safety industry as well as received proper safety procedure information. The event was held in the recreational area. Numerous vendors in the health and construction cluster trades participated in the event.
Mike Yeager Building Construction Technology Instructor demonstrated Ladder Safety, William Nunn Pharmacy Technician Instructor demonstrated proper medication disposal, Michael P. Bopp Industrial Hygienist demonstrated Occupational Safety and Health Administration protocol, John Butcher provided Fit Testing for Respiratory Protection, and Nurse Angela Tripplet and Marcia Pennington spoke about sexually transmitted diseases.
Vendors included Lieutenant Thomas Pryor Recruiter, Carla Widener State Tested Nursing Assistant Instructor, Kirby Medical Assistant Instructor, Jameka Bloom State Tested Nursing Instructor, Angela Laureano Clinical Administrative Assistant,  David Lummus, and Daniel Volpe Carpentry Instructor, Federal Bureau of Investigation Wavery Brewer Human Resource Assistant, Daniel Cueno Bureau of Workers Compensation Industrial Safety Consultant Specialist, and Tanisha Knighton Missing Person Liaison Cuyahoga County Sheriff Department. Each representative setup vendor stations to provide safety tips, educational resources, and answer questions.  Several students participated and helped with demonstrations within their industry exhibits.
