Graduate Joshua Horton works full-time at Faurecia Automotive Seating

Thanks to the training and communication skills he received at Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps, Joshua Horton, 19, from Vine Grove, KY, now has a full-time job withFaurecia Automotive Seating LLC, starting at $14 an hour.

A Faurecia representative came to the center recently to do mock interviews with some students as part of their career transition training. During Horton’s interview,the representative was so impressed that he asked Horton to fill out an application. Long story short, he got the job and started Nov. 19th.Horton is working the night shift from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.

He comes to that job well prepared to work and succeed. While at Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps, he obtained his high school diploma, driver’s license and certificationsin brick masonry, OSHA 10 and High Performance Insulation Professionals (HPIP). He completed his work-based learning at Rock Solid Foundations in Shelbyville, KY.

These accomplishments are a far cry from Horton’s life prior to Job Corps. Back then, he had gotten kicked out of high school and was looking for something to helphim mature, gain self-discipline and become self-sufficient. Job Corps proved to be just what he was looking for.

To those who may be considering enrolling in Job Corps, Horton says simply: “Do it! It will help them in ways they didn’t think they could be helped and will helpthem get a good job.”
