Valentine’s Day Wishes to Congress

This year our center decided to send Valentine’s Day Cards to more than member of Congress, we sent multiple cards to 5 different Congressmembers. Due to the size of Los Angeles County and the number of students from different areas, there are 5 Congressional districts that many of our students come from or still live in. In Los Angeles County, we sent cards to Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), Congressmember Karen Bass (CA-37), Congresswoman Lucille Royball-Allard (CA-40), Congresswoman Nanette Diaz-Barragan (CA-44) and Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43). To ensure that our representatives would see a card during the week of Valentine’s Day, we sent cards to their local district office and their office in Washington D.C. The cards were filled with positive notes of encouragement and even encouraged some members to join the Friends of Job Corps Caucus. It’s important to remind members of Congress that they helps thousands of students locally and that Job Corps is often life changing for many young people.

Sometimes sending a little note to someone you don’t get to see often is a kind gesture, especially when it expresses how much you appreciate their work and what they continue to do for you, event if they’ve never met you before.
