Carl D. Perkins grad completes Criminal Justice Academy

23 year old Beaufort, SC resident Tiffany Middleton, graduated the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Advanced Security and Protective Services program in July of 2017. During her security training at Perkins Job Corps, Middleton served as Student Government Association President, Dorm President, and earned herself 13 nationally recognized certifications. She began her career in corrections upon graduation with Core Civic in Tennessee, then transferred home to the Beaufort County Detention Center in SC where she remains serving.
On July 24, 2020 Middleton graduated the Basic Detention training at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and is now a certified class 2 Law Enforcement Officer. Middleton attributes her career success to what she learned while enrolled in Carl D. Perkins Job Corps stating “Because of my Job Corps training and certificates my employers started me at a higher wage. Job Corps gave me a routine, motivation, structure, discipline, focus, goals, increased my communication and public speaking skills, and molded me to pursue my dreams. I’ve trained, worked, and continue to increase my education because of my Job Corp experience. ” Middleton’s message for current and future students is ” Take advantage of everything Job Corps has to offer, keep an open mind, and participate in leadership opportunities; they instill values and integrity.”
