Shriver student from Haiti becomes an Asst. Conductor

Ralph Jean Baptiste arrived in Connecticut from Haiti in 2014 wanting to complete high school but was challenged with a language barrier.  He attended school to learn English in Connecticut first then was recommended to join Job Corps to earn his high school diploma.  He enrolled at Northland Job Corps in Vermont and received his HSD as well as the trade of Home Building Construction.  He felt compelled to continue into another trade and was accepted at Shriver Job Corps, Devens, MA into the Transportation Communication Union trade.  His efforts and focus excelled as he completed TCU in 6 months.  After graduating from Shriver in 2017 he was hired as a ticket agent at Keolis Commuter Rail Services.  He tested for the position of Asst. Conductor and was hired in 2020.  Ralph stated recently that he is glad to share his story in hopes to help another make the decision to enroll in Job Corps to get the help needed to reach the achievements anyone would want.
