Recreation Club Replants the Community Garden

Herbs, corn, potatoes, squash, and onions are once again growing on center to become future food for both the cafeteria and the culinary arts trade.  This is the third annual garden club community garden.  People form all over the city of Roswell get to enjoy the fruits of the student’s vegetables when the attend upcoming community relations and career technical training councils.  The students in culinary will harvest what they need from menus established for the council meetings.  The cafeteria uses the culinary arts students assist everyday in the cafeteria, and it will be their responsibility to gather the required herbs or vegetables from the garden to subsidize the food budget.

The garden will once again be raised without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides.  So the garden is both green it is also organic.  Many of the crops for 2011 are a natural growth from last years harvest, and sprouted before the garden club was scheduled to plant.  Know your food, know your farmer, at Roswell Job Corps Center you only need to meet the students.
