Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center students work to assist those affected by Joplin, Missouri tornado.

The students and staff of the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center have been active in the last week collecting donations of both money and materials to help those affected by the tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri.

The Milburn/New Summit High School class of the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center collected donations of needed items. The items included personal care items, underwear and socks, work gloves, dog food, and cat food. The donations were put on a truck to be delivered to the Red Cross Relief Station in Joplin, Missouri.

The student government put on a fund raiser at the assembly to raise funds for the American Red Cross to contribute to the efforts for disaster relief in Joplin, MO. From the Alternate Training Location in Kansas City, Missouri they were able to collect just under $90 from pay call on Friday. Most of this was in the form of single one dollar bills that students contributed from their limited pay call funds.

The Excelsior Springs Job Corps Rotaract Club donated $100 that they collected by selling baked goods to their fellow students.
