Blue Ridge Job Corps Student Success – Katelin Singleton

Katelin Singleton comes from a retired military family, so she was always moving from place to place and school to school. She most recently attended Marion Senior High School before making the move to Blue Ridge Job Corps, but three months into her sophomore year, she realized that she wanted to earn more than a high school diploma by the time she was 18. She had always had a passion for helping others, so she enrolled at Blue Ridge at the age of 16.
Katelin went on to complete her GED, while also earning certifications in clinical medical assistant and medical administrative assistant. She also completed a month-long internship at the Meadowview Health Clinic, where she was able to gain hands on experience in her trades.
Katelin was very active on campus, volunteering as a First Friend, Safety Cadet, and serving as a member of the Student Government Association. Also serving on our SGA, student government association for over a year. Vouching as a voice for all the students on campus. She also volunteered at local food pantries, elementary schools, and other off-center functions.
Since she finished the Job Corps program, she enrolled at Virginia Highlands Community College to obtain more certifications, and she was recently also got accepted into Emory & Henry College of Health Sciences for their Bachelors of Science in Nursing program for the spring semester. In addition to her studies, Katelin works as a nursing assistant at Valley Rehab. and Nursing in Chilhowie, VA.
“Picture it,” said Katelin, “Imagine all the possible outcomes because of YOU. Someone needs YOU. Keep your head in the game and work hard for what YOU want.”
