Carl D. Perkins celebrates Residential Advisor, Fran Fletcher’s 24 years of service

“She was loved and respected by our students. You would hear students encouraging each other to assist Ms.Fran with heavy boxes or bulky items. It provided them opportunities to be leaders, to share and teach empathy, to build healthy relationships, and build workplace relationships and ethics.” says Social Development Director Ms. Wyvonna Davis.

The honors took place in the student lobby at Perkins Job Corps on Friday, October 16, 2020. Ms. Fran reminisced standing in the newly renovated student lobby, speaking of how the Perkins facility has changed over the years. Residential Living Supervisor Charles Tackett, Security Manager John Hall, Student Personnel Officer Jason Murphy and a few others whom have served closely alongside Ms. Fran were also in attendance.

“I am honored and thankful for the team assistance I received in the past few months, teleworking and technology was certainly a challenge. We have had some good times, and we have gotten through bad times, I am thankful for all you have taught me, You guys (the staff and students of CDPJCC) will be in my prayers every night.”

Ms.Fran will be retiring and moving out of town to spend time with family. Her primary duties as a residential advisor included student safety, recording individual student accountability, inventory/property, updating student personal career development plan goals utilizing career success standards, and teaching good housekeeping and independent living skills.

Heartfelt celebrations followed CDC guidelines and workplace safety practices. Staff wore masks, physically distanced, utilized sanitizer and clean hand washing practices, individual cupcakes were distributed to all staff for isolated consumption. “Ms. Fran was a great asset to our social development team at Perkins Job Corps. We wish her the best and thank her for her 24 years of modeling, mentoring, and monitoring our students.” says Paulena Davis, Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center Director
