Carl D. Perkins gets visit from Career Transition specialists from KY and West Virginia

Career Transition specialists meet with students nearing completion
Kentucky Career Transition specialists were on center recently to meet with the Carl D. Perkins Career Transitional Readiness coordinators to discuss job opportunities for students who will soon be graduating. The CTS staff, out of Lexington, KY, also met with the Kentucky students who soon will be graduating from the program. West Virginia Career Transition Specialist staff members Elizabeth Kennedy, Bridget Jett and Administrative Assistant Dawn Locke were also on center to discuss employment needs of the West Virginia students attending Perkins Job Corps slated for graduation.

Career Transition Readiness is the last phase in the students’ training at Job Corps. CTR helps students begin job searches, update resumes, submit job applications, and practice interviewing. When students leave the program, they stay in touch with and continue to be assisted by the Kentucky CT specialists they were assigned to while in Job Corps to ensure their successful transition to employment.

CTS staff visit the center monthly.
