Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Carpentry students take on an unusual project

The carpentry class at Carl D. Perkins Job Corps, taught by Jeffery Daniels, took on an unusual project to assist a group of area quilting club members who wanted a Kentucky Start quilt clock for the front of the Floyd County Extension Office. That office is home to the quilting club’s weekly meetings.

The blue and green colors in the start represent the blue of the University of Kentucky and the green of 4-H and  youth development. While quilting club members could get materials for the quilt block, they didn’t have anyone who could construct it for them. That’s where the Perkins Job Corps carpentry class stepped in , building and painting and installing the quilt block.

Perkins Job Corps quash happy to assist this group and make their dream of a beautiful quilt block come true. There work also is a way of saying thanks to this group of women who work with students at Perkins Job Corps on a monthly basis with craft and other projects.
