Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Facilities Maintenance student hired by First Commonwealth Bank

Facilities Maintenance student Jaron Woods gets hired by First Commonwealth Bank in Prestonsburg, KY while on six week Work Based Learning internship. Jaron showed such work ethic, that the bank hired him in their summer position working with the Building and grounds manager at their nine locations throughout the Big Sandy Area. Jaron is required by the bank to keep a daily log of his activities each week to go along with his time sheets.

Jaron has been exposed to several different work sites with many different duties. Jaron has got to interact with contractors throughout the state, such as West Virginia Electrical Supply, Brock-McVey, assisted Thyssenkrupp elevator company with troubleshooting elevator systems. Checking pumps, temperatures and flow on cooling tower, learned about elevator hydraulics, jacks and seals, rooftop generators patrolling the grounds for safety hazards at the nine locations.

The center was able to partner with First Commonwealth Bank, due to Robert Allen Senior Vice President,COO is on the centers Workforce Council and attended his first meeting and learned about the centers programs, and work based learning opportunities. Perkins would like to thank the Robert Allen and the First Commonwealth Bank for their partnership and the opportunities that have been afforded to Jaron, during this work based learning internship now employment.
