Perkins Job Corps holds Spring College/Career Fair

The rain did not keep the fifty-two employers and colleges from showing up for the Perkins Spring College/Career Day, on Thursday March 1st. This has become a yearly event at the center one in the fall and spring. This year’s event was the largest yet. The center also hosted the Floyd Central High School and Carl D. Perkins Vocational rehabilitation students, and many community members. They all had the opportunity to visit the vendors, see the hands on training demonstrations form the Perkins Electrical, Carpentry and Facilities Maintenance Classes. While also talking with the Security Students as they worked the outside event with parking and checking in cars at the gate. Culinary and office admin were busy signing in guest, and preparing a first class lunch for the vendors. This event has become the biggest College/Career fair in the area. The center opened up the event to anyone in need of employment and education in the community .

The fair gives the students opportunities to network with various employers and colleges that are in line with their career path. It also lets them explore other options for their careers. Perkins would like to thank all who took time out of their day to attend the fair and make it a huge success .
