Carl D.Perkins Job Corps Students enjoy Read Across America Day With Local Schools

Perkins Job Corps students read the book “Just a Snowman” to the preschoolers and led a craft activity related to the book. Assisting the students were Perkins Job Corps Reading Instructor Betty Bartlett and Math Instructor Deborah Osborne.

The reading event at Porter Elementary was one of many across the country in honor of the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day, which was officially March 2, in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

The National Job Corps program joined the NEA several years ago and created Reading to Lead, its own reading initiative to help people improve their reading skills. Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens and adults to celebrate the power of words through books.
