Carl D. Perkins students honor Veterans by serving them lunch.

On November 13, 2014 the Carl D. Perkins students help honor local Veterans by serving them lunch during a special Veterans Appreciation luncheon sponsored by KY Appalachia Hospice Care.

Twenty Culinary and Security & Protective Services students headed out early on Thursday morning to the National Guard Armory in Prestonsburg to put on their aprons and safety vest ready to work. While the Culinary students helped cook and fill plates with fish from the fish fry and many side items, the Security & Protective services students where hard at it, making sure traffic flow went smoothly and handled parking, and assisting the Veterans and their families to the Dining Hall.

This was the end of a weeklong celebration of Veterans Appreciation week. Culinary student Michael Pronesti stated that “It was an honor and a privileged to be a part of this event, and serve to these veterans that served and gave so much for us”.
