Carl D. Perkins virtual C.B.A. a success!

Friday, May 29 brought the very first virtual (CBA) Center Business Assembly to Carl D. Perkins Job Corps with over 100 staff and student participants via Zoom! During normal circumstances prior to Digital Learning Job Corps Centers hosts weekly CBA’s usually in their gymnasium, to provide updates to rules/requirements, cover dorm and recreation info, celebrate student academic and trade achievements, celebrate birthdays, student of the month awards, counseling group awards, and to celebrate CPP graduation (Career Preparation Period-1st 3-weeks on center) and CTR (Career Transition Readiness graduates-those moving on to employment or higher education.)
Digital Learning and creative thinking to remain engaged and celebrate successes of the students brought forth a little more distant but exciting CBA. It was the first time some of the staff and students got to see each other in 2 months, so it was definitely a momentous occasion. There were awards for top student in every trade and academic class, IXL participators, Gabrielle Younce and Jana Jarvis earned heir OSHA-10 certifications this week while digital learning. So many positive things to celebrate. We plan to continue meeting weekly via zoom for our Center Business Assemblies throughout digital learning and are thankful for the technologies keeping us together.
