Student Government Association at Carl D. Perkins Job Corps attend Governor’s Inauguration Ceremony

On Tuesday, December 10, the Carl D. Perkins Student Government Association braved the cold weather to attend the 61st Inauguration of Governor Andy Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman at the KY state Capital building in Frankfort. The students were excited to be a part of this event as they witnessed history in the making. As this Inauguration, symbolized the first ever father and son duo to serve in the Governor’s office in Kentucky. As part of the Student Government Association students hold leadership positions on their Job Corps Centers. A lot like State government officials, it can be trying at times. Attending the Inauguration allowed them the chance to see state government in action. They have a renewed understanding of how the Commonwealth state works, and the many offices and positions it takes to run a state. They were particularly in awe of the many introductions, speeches, and the capacity of the event. Most Importantly, students realized the importance of voting and how committees banded together such as the ” KY teachers 120 United” can truly make a difference and have their voices heard on election day. Carl D. Perkins Student Government Association President: Sean Lyon, Vice President: Patrick Kent, Secretary: Summer Cooper, Sergeant at Arms: Espoir Banga, and Committee Chair Person: Justin Bechtel attended the event along with Business Community Liaison, Tiffany Fannin.
