Carville Job Corps Center Pampers Elderly Residents

Carville Job Corps Center high school diploma class visited the, “Ascension Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center” in Gonzales, Louisiana. The students hosted a Prim and Pamper Day with the residents in recognition of Global Youth Service Day.

The students were engaged in manicuring nails for the residents and assisted with the distribution of snacks. They graciously served coffee and crackers. Their lively conversations with the residents and were most appreciated and put needed smiles on the faces of the residents to be in communication with young aspiring people.

The student employees enjoyed their visit as well and looked forward to another time with the patients because of the friendships that were established. The students also provided entertainment for them with songs of praise. The songs were familiar and uplifting for the residents. Afterwards, they enjoyed karaoke tunes with the residents.

When the students returned to class they were filled with stories of their interaction with the patients and the stories they had heard about the resident’s personal lives and adventures.
