Charleston Job Corps’ Alumni Graduate Success

Ms. Kelly Clark graduated from high school prior to enrolling into the Charleston Job Corps Career Center
with plans of continuing her education in the Advanced Training collegiate program. Ms. Clark is currently
the owner and operator of Hey Girl! Hair and Beauty Salon in Charleston, WV.
Clark was an off-campus student who studied to receive certification in Data Entry in 2005. While she didn’t
participate in any on-campus activities, due to her working part-time, she was crowned Job Corps Sweetheart
during her attendance at Charleston Job Corps Center.
Upon leaving the Job Corps Career Center she was hired by Jackson Pierce Public Affairs as a Quality Control Associate
and then onto Cornerstone Solutions Incorporated as a Program Support Specialist. Both companies are Job Corps services
contractors. At the end of her contract with Cornerstone Solutions in 2011, Ms. Clark went on to graduate from West Virginia
State University in 2015 with a B.S. in Communications.
Clark attributes her success to the training skills she received during her tenure with Charleston Job Corps.  She says Job Corps’
training afforded her the skills to operate in a business professional workplace which was the foundation that provided her
opportunities to gain valuable experiences in various corporate settings prior to establishing her own business.
Ms. Clark’s life post-Job Corps has improved and continues to do so as she continues utilizing the skills she garnered from her experiences post Charleston Job Corps.
