CJCC operating under Horizons Youth Services held its second annual Student Mother’s Day Celebration on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Center Director’s Conference Room. Tia Welch, Business Community Liaison has hosted this event on center since 2013 for student mothers and included community guest speakers. Carolyn Wesley, East End Family Resource Center served as the guest speaker. She is a wife, mother, and member of the center’s Community Relations Council. Carolyn says, “Be mindful of your circle of influence and know your resources. Whatever is toxic or not working you have to let it go.” Several staff were on hand to encourage the young ladies with words of wisdom. The student females recognized were Meskerem Gemtesa, Darlene Flores, Ally Haines, Bridget Hartz, Ashley Weedon and Marie Wells.
