Charleston Job Corps Center participes in YWCA Race to End Racism-April 28, 2018

CJCC Participants at YWCA Race to End Racism

The Charleston Job Corps Center (CJCC) operating under Horizons Youth Services (HYS) participated in the 2nd annual YWCA Race to End Racism, April 28 at 9:00 a.m. on the West Side of Charleston.

Staff and students joined hundreds in the 5K Run/1 Mile Walk that started and ended at Magic Island. The run/walk route passed by several West Side historic landmarks, including churches and the Luna Park District, as well as Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary School. Additional activities were scheduled at Magic Island to include food stations, photo opportunities, a bounce house, face painting and a variety of live entertainment acts along the riverside.

According to the YWCA website, “More than 400 people crossed the finish line at the inaugural Race to End Racism last year! The Race to End Racism funds racial justice work at YWCA Charleston. The work includes partnership building, community education and activism to eliminate racism in our communities.”

CJCC Participants included Aaliyah Moses, Aoleon Bright, Danyielle Thompson, Antoine Rowe, Tamara Cleates, Shade Simmons, Donya Sharp, Jesse Bowman, Jennifer Lester, Medical Office Support Instructor and Angela Rackley, Center Director.
