Clearfield Student Presents Special Gift for Utah Governor

Clearfield Job Corps Composites student Alek Molina attended a dinner for the Utah System of Technical Colleges and presented a shield he made for Governor Gary Herbert. The Composites trade is taught through a partnership with the Davis Technical College. Alek was selected out of all the Davis Technical College students to represent the school and the composites program. The shield he presented was accepted on the Governor’s behalf by Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox. In addition to the presentation of the shield, he walked the audience of technical college administrators and state officials through the process of making the shield using composite materials. Alek said, “At first I was nervous to start talking to them all, but I got comfortable very quickly. I could have done that all day!”

In addition to quality training, Job Corps students often get exposed to opportunities that allow them to develop their public speaking and presentation skills. These types of experiences benefit Job Corps graduates for a lifetime!
