Cleveland Job Corps Student Success Story

Although Diamond completed all the requirements to graduate from Mahoney County High School in Youngstown, Ohio in 2014, she unfortunately did not pass the science portion of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT). Diamond worked hard and studied but fail by 2 points and received a certificate of attendance.

Since she was sixteen years old, Diamond aspired to be a Pharmacy Technician. After hearing about Job Corps, she quickly enrolled. She knew the program would help her pursue her career goals and finally get her High School Diploma.

Diamond entered the Cleveland Job Corps Center on June 12, 2017. Determined to succeed, in less than a year, she completed the Pharmacy Technician trade and earned her Penn Foster High School Diploma. Diamond also obtained her ServSafe, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, and Health Insurance Portability & Accountability credentials. She is a proud graduate of Cleveland Job Corps and successfully transitioned out on January 19, 2018.

Twenty-one-year-old Diamond is the newest member of Walgreens Pharmacy Technician Trainee team. She will be attending Cuyahoga Community College (TRI-C) in the fall to complete her prerequisites. She then plans to transfer to Central State University to complete her new goal to become a Pharmacist. “My plans changed when I enrolled in Cleveland Job Corps, I want to become a Pharmacist and not just a Pharmacy Technician,” explained Diamond. “I’m excited to take steps towards my new dream with the confidence to know I can achieve my goals.”
