On August 1, 2017, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson hosted the “34th Annual Night Out Against Crime,” event at Cleveland’s Luke Easter Park. The Mayor’s office contacted the Cleveland Job Corps Center to assist with building a demonstration booth to display the difference between old and new building regulations. Cleveland Department of Public Health, Brian Kimball provided the vision to the Cleveland Job Corps Center Carpentry trade. The demonstration booth displayed home violations, in addition to various safety standards homeowners and tenants should know. A few of the items included energy efficiency, the importance of smoke and CO2 detectors, and the hazards of lead paint and black mold.
